This is me!

Born in the small country of Denmark I was blessed with being surrounded by countries at all sides; 15 minutes by train to Sweden, 3 hours by car to Germany, 5 hours to Norway and Poland and a dozen countries within less than 1,5hours on a plane. Combine this with the strong danish economy and a strong social safety net and the grounds for a life of travel are set.

I was irreversibly bitten by the travel bug during a 3 week trip from Copenhagen, Denmark to UlanBaatar in Mongolia – by land! Me and a buddy decided to take the trans-mongolian railroad from Moscow to UlanBaatar but instead of flying to Moscow we hitchhiked from our doorsteps in Denmark to Warsaw, the capitol of Poland and then took the train onward through Minsk in Belarus to Moscow, Russia. The vast amount of experiences during that short amount of time was unreal. Every day when my head hit the pillow I felt like I just had a week’s worth of experiences!

There was no turning back – 1½ year later I quit my high paying job as an engineer in Denmark to pursue a life of travel.

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.”

Mark Twain, The Innocents Abroad/Roughing It
